Krishna Temple

In history a couple of weeks ago we learned about India and a little about Buddaism. The following week we went on a field trip to the Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork, Utah. It was very beautiful and they served a very nice vegitarian buffet. They also raise lamas and have many animals. It was a fun place to visit, but I wouldn't visit again with as many kids. On their website and over the phone they seemed to be very open to having children come to visit, but once we got there it was a different story.

They had this little pavillion on their grounds and after having to be quiet and still for so long the kids found great joy in dancing on this "stage". I believe this was my favorite part of the trip.

They even had a pond on their grounds with great big koi in it. They kids loved watching them.

The Sippy Cup

So Eva has graduated to a sippy cup. We thought it was really cute how she figured it out. Man, does she love smoothies!

Robyn, Emma and Aiden have been taking a Shakespere class with our homeschool group this semester. They worked on the play "The Tempest". I got to sew the costumes and they got to have a good time memorizing Shakespere and hopefully learned how to understand it a little better. It was great to watch Aiden learn to be excited about being on a stage. I kept reminding myself how far he has come. Last year was his first year of doing the Primary program. That was 4 years of not participating because he was so scared. I knew it wouldn't be long before the Kibbie side kicked in :). Here are some highlights from this evening...

History fun

Last week for our history class we learned about monks and how they copied the Bible and other books. The would take great care to make the books very beautiful with drawing and intricate details. We talked about calligraphy and illuminations and then we tried it out ourselves. We even made quills and ink.

Emma the AMAZING rider!!

So, here she is doing what she loves! She has been working so hard at earning money and paying for these lessons. Her teacher is so supportive and has even given Emma some baked goods to sell to help Emma in her efforts. Her teacher said that Emma is a good rider and she thinks that Emma can take first place in some of the events in her first show coming up. We are so proud and happy for her!

Why we are weird to some LOL

My friend Sara found this quote and I read it this morning on an email that she sent me:

There is a time and a place to have good knowledge. It is important to stay open to new possibilities so when truth comes to you, you are ready to accept it.

This quote is a perfect example of how important men and women are in their respective roles. I feel that woman need to honor their men and take pride in being a mother to whatever respect that may be (married with kids, single, divorced, widowed). All woman can be a mother in some way. It is very sad to me how motherhood and serving your husband has been frowned upon. My joy comes through serving and loving my family. I have been extremely blessed with a loving and supportive husband and 5 healthy beautiful children. Why wouldn't I take pride in that?
